It's not producing PDFs.  Your output file is a TIFF.  (Or you uploaded the wrong one.)

MP Server / Re: LDAP SSL Error after upgrading to 10.1
« on: October 04, 2019, 06:07:01 AM »
CMOD LDAP error code 49:  LDAP_INVALID_CREDENTIALS    The client passed either an incorrect DN or password, or the password is incorrect because it has expired, intruder detection has locked the account, or another similar reason.

There's an article on the CMOD wiki for this as well:  https://cmod.wiki/index.php/LDAP_Error:_Invalid_credentials

Yup.  For anyone who finds this in the future,
Code: [Select]
ulimit -a will show the current limits on system resources that are in effect.

And I think I've said this before, but a ulimit problem at my customer's site was turned into a full page article in ODNews back in 2013 or 2014.  And it's the reason why when you start arssockd and arsload that the ulimits are printed as part of the verbose output.  :)  There were some extra tricky things that caused it, but, it was a nightmare nonetheless.

Alessandro gave a really good presentation on CMOD Cache Internals during the 2019 Technical Webinar Series:  http://www.odusergroup.org/forums/index.php?topic=2640.0

Start there and pop back with any questions you might have.

Coredump = crash.  Whatever you're running is crashing, the server isn't cutting you off.  :)

iSeries / Re: Batch Retrieval of Tif Files using Arsdoc Get
« on: September 30, 2019, 12:25:07 PM »
When you're extracting with arsdoc, how are you getting it to a PC to view?  Which utility are you using to view it?  When you save from the CMOD client, are you opening it with the same utility you're using when you download it from the server?

Exceeding the license limits shouldn't stop you from completing a request.  It's just a notification / warning to buy more licenses.

Also, double-check with your IBM Rep -- that license limit may no longer be valid -- since you're unlikely to be paying for support for v8.5.x anyway.

So many questions...  :)

Are the files being transferred in a binary format?  Is there some sort of translation happening under-the-covers when you pull them from the iSeries box?

Are you able to view these documents through the CMOD client?  If they're not displayed in CMOD natively, which viewer are you using?  Are these documents particularly old?  Some old TIFF encoding libraries had bugs that would affect display on various platforms.

The codepage should only be for the index data, and shouldn't matter unless you're using 'foreign' characters (accented / special characters).  Your data type is defined as TIFF, so codepages won't affect the data itself.

What's the goal here?  Are you pulling this data out to store it elsewhere, or just for access / display?

z/OS Server / Re: 10.1 Release Notes
« on: September 24, 2019, 04:12:28 PM »
Starting in 10.1.0.1,

if -h HOST:PORT is used

(i.e. a colon [:] is used as a separator between hostname and port),

the connection will fail.

Use a comma instead.

Ed

Is this just on z/OS, or all platforms?

Other / Tightening Security / Locking Down CMOD
« on: September 20, 2019, 12:42:31 PM »
Hey everyone.

With all the leaks that have been happening around the world lately, I've been more interested in what other folks are doing to secure their CMOD installations.

In a lot of customer sites, IBM CMOD Security is rather lax - default passwords, inactive accounts, and way too much authority/permissions for service accounts.

I have a long list of fixes I'll share, but I wondered if anyone else has been through the process, and if they did anything interesting to help secure CMOD.

Review the presentation by Bud Paton on storing XML in CMOD in this post:

You might be able to use some of the information and tools presented there to help build your solution.

Windows Client / Re: Can ALL error messages be Suppressed

Can we get a command line option for this in the future?  :)

And I've recently discovered an incompatibility between TSM Client v7.1.6.5 and TSM Server v8.1.x.  There's apparently a new security profile in the v8.1.x servers, which may disable access to storage nodes.  Something about setting security on the server to 'transitional' rather than 'strict'.  I'll post more info about it when we get it resolved.  :D

Windows Client / Re: CMOD Client 10.1 compatibility with Citrix
« on: September 13, 2019, 12:12:00 PM »
I don't know about specific 'flavours' of Citrix, but a large percentage of my customers use CMOD within Citrix, and don't report any issues.

If you think you're having a compatibility issue with a particular configuration, a PMR with IBM is the best way forward.
